Simply put, the Sabbath is a day (24 hours) blessed by God and set aside to stop, rest, delight and worship. Over the next 4-weeks (starting January 22nd), we will be diving into the sabbath practice as we seek to follow Jesus, together.
Below you will find instructions on how to engage with this practice over the next 4-weeks, videos to use as you gather with friends or family to help you plan for and reflect on each weeks sabbath practice, and some suggested resources on sabbath (books, podcasts, etc.).
Steps to engage in the sabbath practice with us.
Step 1: Join us for a message on the Sabbath each Sunday at Journey Church. You can also find the video HERE on our YouTube channel if you are unable to attend.
Step 2: Read the chapter in your Sabbath Practice Guide that corresponds to this week’s teaching (STOP, REST, DELIGHT, WORSHIP) including the Practice and Reach sections. (If you would like a hard copy of the Sabbath Practice Guide we will have them available at church on Sundays.)
Step 3: Get together with a group of people, some friends, another family, your family, etc. to watch the short video below that corresponds with this week’s teaching (STOP, REST, DELIGHT, WORSHIP) and discuss the questions they provide and the next steps they suggest. Talk through a plan to practice the Sabbath that works for you.

Step 4: Practice the Sabbath based on the plan you made using the Sabbath Practice Guide.
Step 5: Reflect on your experience in the space provided in the Sabbath Practice Guide. You will use this to share from when you get together with friends or family next week.
Step 6: Repeat these steps with us for three more weeks.
